Myrtle Beach, SC - MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Zombies across the Grand Strand will be invading Myrtle Beach, but instead of eating brains they'll be walking to benefit animals.
The third annual Myrtle Beach Zombie Walk, set for Saturday, April 17, will benefit the Grand Strand Humane Society.
The event will kick off at Fresh Brewed Coffee House in downtown Myrtle Beach. Registration begins at 1 p.m. with the walk beginning at 5 p.m. There is a $5 registration fee and that gets your zombie make-up done by professional make-up artists and entrance into the after parties at Crazy J's and Drink!.
A portion of the proceeds benefit the Grand Strand Humane Society. Zombie Walk officials will also be collecting pet food donations for the shelter.
The all-ages walk will take participants around downtown Myrtle Beach and will last approximately an hour. Children 12 years of age and under will need to be accompanied by an adult.
Walkers can enjoy music beginning at 6 p.m. by local bands such as Some Ambulance, Expose the Ghost, SAVAS and Sharklegs. Walkers must be 16 years of age to enter after parties unless accompanied by an adult.
"This is a new and different way for the younger generation to get involved, give back and help the local community," said Brandi Matkins, event organizer.
