Annual dog show a first for Florence area fairgrounds

FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - It's a first for the Eastern Carolina Agricultural Fairgrounds, but come next month, the City of Florence will be going to the dogs!

The Myrtle Beach Kennel Club, Inc., has announced it will be holding the organization's annual dog show in Florence on May 22-24. It is the first time a dog show has ever been held at the Eastern Carolina Agricultural Fairgrounds.

The event, similar in format to the Westminster Dog Show, is one of many held across the country where dogs can compete to finish their championships in order to attend the Westminster Dog Show. Westminster, according to the Myrtle Beach Kennel Club, is an all-champions show.

Food vendors and an opening ceremony by area Boy Scouts will also highlight the event. A match show will also be held on May 22, in addition to mixed breeds being permitted to compete in obedience trials.
