Florence, SC - FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - Students at Southside middle School in Florence will have the opportunity to learn about the technology of sound creation, thanks to a three-day audio CD creation residency by Sean Driscoll.
During Driscoll's visit to Southside Middle, students will create an audio CD of their own stories, sound effects and music using a Pro-Tools digital studio. The process, according to school officials, will allow students to learn about the science of sound, computer editing and CD construction.
The final product will be a digitally mastered CD with full-color cover artwork. Music and sound effects created by the students will also be mixed with their stories.
The workshop is provided by an Arts Curricular Innovation grant written by members of the Fine Arts Department at Southside Middle School IT's funded by the State Department of Education and is awarded to distinguished arts programs.
