CHARLOTTE, NC – Liberty's J'nae Jefferson has been named the Big South Conference Choice Hotels softball Player of the Week, while Lady Flame Tiffani Smith and Katelin Edwards of Coastal Carolina were tabbed The Crons Brand Co-Pitchers of the Week, the League announced today.

Jefferson, a designated hitter from Barboursville, W. Va., ran her hitting streak to nine-straight games as she posted four hits, five RBI, two doubles and two long balls to lead her Lady Flames to a series sweep of Winthrop over the weekend. The senior posted a hit in all three games she played in and highlighted her series with a three-run walk-off homer in game two to give Liberty the 4-1 win. Jefferson slugged 1.500 in the three-game span and posted an on-base percentage of .636.

Smith, a junior right-handed pitcher from Hanover, Pa., went 2-0 on the week, picking up two Conference wins and a save in the circle against Winthrop. She posted a 0.58 ERA, giving up four hits in 12 innings of work. Smith retired 10 Lady Eagle hitters and allowed just one earned run.

Edwards, a right-handed junior from Greer, S.C., posted a complete-game no-hit shutout win against Charleston Southern on March 31. She was nearly perfect in the seven innings she worked as she posted five strikeouts and allowed just one walk. In the second frame, Edwards retired all three Bucs she faced on strikeouts. The game marked her second no-hitter of the season.

Also nominated for softball Player of the Week for Week 8: Megan Hall (Charleston Southern), Jazmin Daigle (Coastal Carolina) and Sarah Himan (Radford).
