Coastal Carolina Men’s Tennis Suffers a 5-2 Setback to Radford

RADFORD, VA - Coastal Carolina men's tennis lost its first Big South Conference match-up of the season to Radford 5-2, giving up first place in the Big South on Saturday, April 3 at the RU Tennis Courts.
The Chanticleers are now 12-6 overall and 3-1 in the Big South, while the Highlanders have won their last 39-of-40 matches played on the home court, improving to 8-9 on the season and 2-0 in the league.
The Chanticleers went behind early as Radford won all three doubles matches, earning the point. The Chants battled in No. 2 doubles with senior Ernesto Ramos and junior Alex Funkhouser, but were defeated 8-4 by Zack Warson and Paul Boslet.
Coastal continued to struggle in singles as the Highlanders took the next four points in the No. 3, 1, 5, 2 positions, falling to 5-0 in the match. Coastal's final two matches were the lone wins of the day, coming from Plamen Tzetkov, who topped Boslet 6-3, 5-7, 10-8 in the No. 4 spot, and Dorian Sovic defeating Erik Finkenbrink in the No. 6 position by another third-set 10-point tiebreaker, 6-3, 5-7, 10-8.
Coastal will continue the two-game road swing against Big South-rival Winthrop Saturday, April 11 at 11:30 a.m., in Rock Hill, SC Radford will continues its stretch of four-straight conference matches to conclude the regular season with a 2:30 p.m. dual at Gardner-Webb Wednesday.
