Patriot Golfers 11th at Irish Creek Collegiate

KANNAPOLIS, NC – Led by senior Christopher Couch, Francis Marion University stands 11th in the team standings after 36 holes at the 13th-annual Irish Creek Collegiate Golf Tournament.

The 54-hole event is sponsored by the Charlotte Sports Commission, the Charlotte 49ers, and Davidson and Belmont Abbey colleges, and is being played at the par 71, 7099-yard The Club at Irish Creek in Kannapolis, N.C.  The final 18 holes will be contested on Sunday, with tee times beginning at 8 a.m.

Charlotte leads the field with a 562 team score, while Belmont Abbey is two strokes behind.  Francis Marion shot identical 298 team scores over each of the two rounds on Saturday and ended the day at 596.

Couch leads the Patriot individuals as he shot rounds of 70 and 75 and is tied for 23rd position at 145.  He parred 25 of his 36 holes. Senior Matt Jackson (74-75=149) is tied for 43rd, while Kenneth Svanum (78-73=151) and Sebastian Backlund (76-75=151) are tied for 50th, and Travis Gantt (79-75=154) is tied for the 63rd spot.
