MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Apple released the iPad to much frenzy around the Country. If you want an iPad, where can you find one in Myrtle Beach? The closest Apple store is in Charleston, SC but those that want the iPad can get one in the Grand Strand.
Best Buy is selling the iPad. Eathan Aldrich works at Best Buy and he says it was a busy morning. " We had a line of about 40 people or so this morning, about as expected. We could have had a little more people," he said.
Connecting Point is located in the Market Common area. Connecting Point is an Apple authorizes service provider. Scott Atkinson works at Connecting Point and he says their morning was quite a bit slower.
"We had about ten people in earlier, it's a little slow right now," he said.
The customers that did show up were surprised there weren't long lines. Mike Kevlin walked through the doors of Connecting Point a little after 10 a.m..
"I knew I wasn't going to be the first to get my hands on it- but I expected mobs outside the store I was surprised to see nobody standing there."
Some customers, like Katelyn Kellam say they are glad there aren't long lines. "It's a lot nicer not having the lines," she said. "You know, you can actually come in and play with it."
Kevlin agrees, saying he was happy to come in and get his hands on it. "Well I'm here to play with it and see what features it does have," he said. "If I like it- I very well may buy it today just simply because I have to have it."
Both stores expect people to come in again when the 3G version of the device comes out. Right now the iPad can only surf the web via wi-fi connection,
