GREENWOOD, SC - Lander's Shannon McKever, who led No. 11-ranked Lander to a school-record 27 wins and its first-ever NCAA Division II Sweet 16, was included on the Women's Basketball Coaches Association All-American team as an honorable mention it was announced this week.
McKever, a 6-foot, junior from Florence, S.C., averaged 14.4 points and 9.3 rebounds per game during the season and recorded 13 double-doubles in points and rebounds. She also had 92 blocked shots, which was seventh best in the country.
A two-time All-Peach Belt selection, McKever was the PBC tournament Most Valuable Player in 2009.
With 446 points this season, McKever has 1,211 career points and moves up to sixth on Lander's all-time scoring list. The record is 1,474 points, set by Lorain Truesdale (1989-93). Her three-year .559 shooting percentage (500-of-894 field goals) is first on the list, while her 191 blocked shots is second behind Kristine McPherson's 231. With 781 career rebounds, she is seventh on the all-time list.
