MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – April 1 marks Census Awareness Day, but some people in the Grand Strand are questioning why they didn't get a form in the mail.
Max Biggs, who is a census office manager, said there are several reasons why a person may not receive a form. He said many times a person will not get a form if he or she lives in a new housing development or a street changes its name.
Dawn Sapio said she never received a form in the mail and is concerned about the census count.
"I received a letter in the mail back in February telling me the census form was on its way and how important it was to fill it out and get it back as quickly as possible. I never received a census form, but then I received a postcard saying we never received your census form and you need to mail it back," explained Sapio.
Sapio claimed 18 of her friends had the same problem.
There are also over 100 census assistance centers where a person can pick up a form and fill it out. Biggs says the best way to track down the reason why a form was not sent to your home is to give the office a call at (843) 773-7872.
