Lumberton, NC - LUMBERTON, NC (WMBF) - A 12-year-old juvenile and 31-year-old man are facing murder charges in connection to two March shootings in Lumberton, one of which turned deadly.
Lt. Johnny Barnes with the Robeson County Sheriff's Office says investigators arrested Jimmy Douglas Tilley at an address on East Avenue in Lumberton just after 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Tilley has been charged with first degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon and intent to kill inflicting serious injury, discharging a weapon into occupied property, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Investigators believe Tilley is connected to the March 19 shooting death of Michael Chuang, 39, on Clewis Street in Lumberton. Tilley has also been connected to a second shooting, in which bullets were fired into a vehicle occupied by Chad Nealy.
A second suspect, identified only as a 12-year-old juvenile, was also taken into custody this week and charged with first degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon and intent to kill inflicting serious injury, and discharging a weapon into occupied property.
Tilley is currently being held at the Robeson County Jail.
