Loris woman killed after car strikes tree, catches on fire

Aynor, SC -

AYNOR, SC (WMBF) – The Horry County Coroner's Office has confirmed the identity of a person killed in a car accident in Aynor Tuesday evening.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol says the incident happened around 5:45 p.m. on Edwards Road, just outside of Aynor. Investigators believe the driver of the vehicle was thrown from the car when it struck a tree and caught on fire.

The Horry County Coroner's Office identified the woman, who died at the scene of the accident, as 44-year-old Angela Renee Harrelson, of Loris.

Officials say a 4-year-old girl was a passenger inside of the car at the time of the accident, and was rescued by a passer-by. The child was transported to the Medical University of South Carolina, where her condition remains unknown.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
