Discrimination allegations lead to lawsuit against FCSO

Florence, SC - FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) – An investigator with the Florence County Sheriff's Office is taking legal action against the department and one of its lieutenants, according to legal action filed in U.S. District Court.

Department spokesman Capt. Michael Nunn says the lawsuit alleges Investigator Jody Lynch was subjected to unlawful discrimination because of her sex.

The issue has since been investigated by the South Carolina Human Affairs Commission and the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and according to the sheriff's office, no violations of the Human Affairs Law were found.

Sheriff Kenney Boons says the department is reviewing the complaint and will file a formal response.
