MARION, SC (WMBF) - Workers at the Marion County Animal Shelter are worried that three puppies stolen from their shelter could be put in harms way.
The shelter said workers arrived Friday to find three dogs taken from their cages, it's the first robbery to strike the shelter in at least two years.
"We're baffled, we're dumbfounded, and it breaks our heart," said Jennifer Nall, the executive director of the shelter. "Some people have used small puppies as bait to train the dogs how to fight and that's our biggest fear that's what happened to these puppies."
The shelter houses around 100 dogs in the facility and said they don't have a lot of money to spend on security. The shelter said they are offering a reward to help encourage people bring the puppies back to the shelter.
If you have any information about the whereabouts of these dogs, you're asked to call the Marion County Animal Shelter at (843) 423-8370.
