Police investigate RV break-ins

Surfside Beach, SC - SURFSIDE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Horry County Police are investigating after several people reported thefts from recreational vehicles in Surfside Beach.

According to HCPD spokesman Robert Kegler, officers began investigating on March 12 when someone reported their camper had been broken into in Camper Country on South Kings Highway. Investigators said the thief took two flat screen TVs and a DVD player. The camper sustained approximately $5,000 in damage.

Nine days later, officers were called to Camper Country on Dick Pond Road, where several campers had been burglarized and several thousands of dollars worth of damage was done, according to Kegler. Several flat screen TVs were stolen during the crime.

Both incidents are now under investigation by detectives with the Horry County Police Department's Property Crimes Section.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on the break-ins to contact the Horry County Police Department at 843-915-TIPS (8477). They also urge the public to be aware of people trying to sell televisions at a cheaper price than normal.
