CHARLOTTE, NC - Charleston Southern's Javon Young has been named the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Week, while Manika Gamble from High Point was tabbed the Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week, the League announced Thursday.

Young, a sophomore from Swainsboro, Ga., tied the nation's fastest 200-meter time as he finished first in the event at the Shamrock Invitational with a time of 20.92 over the weekend. He was the only competitor in the event to post a time under 21 seconds.

Gamble, a sophomore from Jacksonville, N.C., set a High Point record with a time of 13.96 to finish fourth overall in the 100-meter hurdles at the Wake Forest Open over the weekend. The time bested the old record of 14.11 set in 2007 and is the fastest 100-meter hurdle time of her career. Later in the event, Gamble finished fourth in the 400-meter hurdle event with a time of 1:00.85, just .05 seconds out of third place.

Honorable mentions for the men included Jason Flanagan of Coastal Carolina and Levi Brooks of Charleston Southern. Flanagan posted a personal record throw of 224' to win the javelin at the Shamrock Invitational. His mark currently ranks No. 1 in the Big South and is No. 5 in the East Region. Brooks was the top collegiate finisher at the Shamrock Invitational with a time of 46.40 in the 400-meter dash. He finished second overall in the event.
