CONWAY, SC (WMBF) – Coastal Carolina football players are about halfway through their spring practice schedule, and veterans on the team like the changes they see.
"It's completely different," said CCU QB Zach MacDowall.
The change players describe is added intensity and focus during practice. Coming off a disappointing 2009 campaign, it's something players say they need.
"Everyone knows what's on the line this year," MacDowall said. "We have tons of seniors, tons of guys who want to step up and be leaders, and that just helps the team in every way."
The change comes largely from the top, where head coach David Bennett is constantly stressing to his players the importance of making every minute of spring practice count.
"[Practice is] a lot more urgent this year," said Chanticleer CB Josh Norman. "I think they want to win now. Very urgent, very urgent. Coach Bennett stresses that a lot."
Coastal Carolina concludes ITS spring practice schedule with the annual Teal/Black Spring Game on April 10 at noon.
