MB introduces plans for Christian Music Festival

Myrtle Beach, SC -

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A number of major Christian musicians will soon be rocking the Grand Strand, as Myrtle Beach leaders announced plans for the seaside town's largest Christian Music Festival to-date on Tuesday.

Leaders gathered at the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce to announce the star-studded line-up for the Beach Blast! Christian Music Festival, scheduled to be held from 2 to 9 p.m. on May 22 at the former Myrtle Square Mall site.

The ticketed event will feature performances by headliner Toby Mac, Kutless, The Afters, KJ-52 and David Nasser. In the works are plans for a special fireworks finale, in addition to food, arts and craft vendors.

"The May events are designed to grow our spring shoulder season and encourage families to choose the Myrtle Beach area as a place to play and stay," said Brad Dean, MBACC president and CEO. "When surveyed, likely shoulder-season travelers said they most preferred outdoor concerts and cultural arts festivals as events that would motivate them to visit the Myrtle Beach area."

Horry County Council Chairwoman Liz Gilland spent 10 years working in the contemporary Christian music industry. Gilland thinks the new festival will be a success.

"They can hear their favorite artist and have all the other things that there are to do in the Myrtle Beach area, this is going to become one of the premier locations for contemporary Christian music I think," said Gilland.

Tickets can be purchased online at PremierFestivals.com. Prices are $18 for children 12 and under, $25 in advance and $60 for a family-fun four pack. Early bird tickets are $22 through April 23.
