SOCASTEE, SC (WMBF) – Darlington High School's Jordan Scott carried the Falcons basketball team to the Lower State Finals. Rather than being disappointed about coming up short of a title game, Scott is still proud of his team for making it that far.
"I wasn't expecting that coming over there," said Scott. "We made it far we just couldn't capitalize on it."
Scott is getting ready for Saturday's Carolinas All-Star Basketball Classic. The College of Charleston signee is enjoying spending time with the talented players on his team and on North Carolina's squad. Most of these players, however, he's been getting to know throughout his basketball career.
"These guys right here, we've been playing together all our lives," said Scott. "Camps, tournaments, things like that. [The all-star game] is going to be usual, usual for me"
One of the most impressive aspects of Scott's game is his aerial display. Rivals.com lists him as just 6'0", but his dunks were a regular feature during Darlington games this season. Friday night the Carolinas Classic is holding a dunk contest. Scott is looking forward to competing in that event, but refuses to tip his hand as to what kind of dunks he has planned.
"You'll just have to wait and see," said Scott. "The favorite [in the dunk contest] right now would probably be... me."
The 13th Annual Carolinas All-Star Basketball Classic is this Saturday. The girls' game is at 6:30 p.m., boys at 8:30 p.m. Both games will be broadcast live on WMBFNews.com. The games will be held at Socastee High School.
