Clayton County's first black police chief cleared

ATLANTA, GA (AP) - Clayton County's former police chief has been cleared of any wrongdoing by a special prosecutor.

The state attorney general appointed the DeKalb County District Attorney's office as special prosecutor to investigate Jeff Turner after the prosecutor in Clayton stepped aside.

DeKalb District Attorney Gwen Keyes Fleming spokesman Orzy Theus says the DeKalb prosecutor found no evidence of a crime.

The Clayton County Commission has voted to remove Turner in December after an audit cited, among other issues, insubordination by Turner, sexual harassment cases in the department and police chases that ended with innocent bystanders killed.
