Myrtle Beach, SC - MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - It's a tad chilly for Southerners to enjoy the surf, but that didn't stop folks from the North who arrived on the South Carolina coast for the Canadian-American Days festival.
It's the 49th season for Can-Am Days, which opened Saturday on the Grand Strand. Tourism officials estimate more than 100,000 Canadians and snowbirds will be in the state for the festival over the coming week.
Events feature a Can-Am Expo, free activities and concerts, a St. Patrick's Day parade and dance and other events.
Brad Dean, the president and CEO of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, says many visitors have been coming to the beach for decades. The festival concludes on March 21.
