Changes made to bank's debit cards

(NBC) - Bank of America is making a major change to it's debit card program.

Starting this summer, Bank of America customers will no longer be able to spend more than they have in the accounts linked to their debit cards.

The move is in reaction to new federal rules limiting overdraft fees. In 2009, Banks earned about $38.5 billion from overdraft and insufficient-fund fees.

Other financial institutions are said to be considering similar policies.
