Car chase turns deadly in Darlington Co.

DARLINGTON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - One person is dead and another is injured following a fatal accident in Darlington County Friday night.

Capt. Andy Locklair with the Darlington County Sheriff's Office says around 7:30 p.m., the South Carolina Highway Patrol attempted to pull a vehicle over when it failed to stop for the trooper's lights. A chase ensued between Highway Patrol and the vehicle when the car crashed on Potato House Road.

According to the Darlington County Coroner, 47 year old Sylvia Britt Mattox Hill died in the accident and her husband was taken to a local hospital with injuries.

The Coroner The accident remains under investigation by the Darlington County Sheriff's Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
