AYNOR, SC (WMBF) – It's hard to put a title on WMBF News Athlete of the Week Nick Asbury.
"My role in this team is to try and make something happen," said Asbury.
That means using his considerable talent all over the field.
"He's done everything. He's kicked, he's punted, returned kicks, played safety, played corner, wide receiver, quarterback, running back," said Aynor head coach Jody Jenerette. "You name it, he's done it."
Asbury has been a huge part of the Blue Jackets offense for the last four years. His senior season has been difficult, battling through an ankle injury most of the year.
"He hates he's been hurt this year," said Jenerette. "It's really slowed him down, slowed us down tremendously. That's how it goes. You just have to roll with it."
But Nick put in the work in the weight room to make it back for the final two games of the regular season. He says he's only at "95 percent," but he's happy he'll get a chance to end his career on the field instead of the sidelines.
"I want people to remember he's a play maker," said Asbury. "He's out there trying to make someone else better. I'm a little guy, but I can get it done."
