LORIS, SC  (WMBF) - The Horry County Fair is set to open after being in the dark for eight years.

Owners of the Horry County Fairgrounds say after a year of planning, the fair is back. The fair will open on  Tuesday and feature carnival rides and live entertainment.

Ashlei White has worked for a year on the project and says she's happy to bring the tradition back to the Loris area.

"It takes that long to get everything together and the vendors and the amusement companies plan a year in advance," said White. "I grew up coming to it and it's something we needed to bring back."

The Loris Fair, opened in 1928 in downtown Loris and later moved to its current location on Highway 701.  Eight years ago, the operators at the time didn't organize the fair and it went in limbo.

White says the fair is back and hopes to make it better year after year.  This year, the fair runs from Tuesday at 5 p.m. through Saturday. On Saturday, the fair opens at 1 p.m.
