Strong storms, flooding shut down Ocean Blvd. in NMB

Posted: Updated:

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Nearly waist-deep water has been reported in areas along Ocean Boulevard in North Myrtle Beach, after strong storms ripped through the seaside town late Thursday afternoon.

Nicole Aiello, spokeswoman for North Myrtle Beach, said officials have closed Ocean Boulevard from First Avenue North to First Avenue South due to flooding.

Aiello said officials plan on re-opening the road when it is deemed safe for cars to pass through.

Officials also alerted drivers to malfunctioning traffic lights in the North Myrtle Beach area, following a power outage in the area. The temporary outage caused minor congestion on North Myrtle Beach roadways, and according to Aiello, has since been solved.
