CONWAY, SC (WMBF) – Myrtle Beach resident Dustin Johnson only had about a four foot putt in between him and winning the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am for the second straight year.
"I was nervous for sure, real nervous," said Johnson. "You know you gotta make it, you just have to pick the line. I hit a good putt [and] it went right in the middle."
Johnson ended up with a one-stroke victory at Pebble Beach, making him a repeat champion after his 54-hole victory last year.
"It's awesome to defend a title and get another win," said Johnson.
The Coastal Carolina alum has lofty goals for this season, but chief on the list is making the United States team for the next Ryder Cup. A possible good omen - though it's early in the season, Johnson currently sits in first in the Fed Ex Cup Standings.
"I was up there last year," said Johnson. "I don't know if I ever got to [No.] 1. It's pretty cool to see it up there at the top, have to keep it up there, that's the goal."
Johnson has a few weeks off, saying his next event will be at the WGC-CA Championship at Doral.
