Posted: Updated:

FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - One woman is dead after she was hit by a pickup truck while crossing US-52 in Florence County Monday night.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol says the accident happened around 9 p.m. on US-52 in the area of I-95. The victim and three others were walking across US-52 to have dinner in a restaurant when she was struck. Witnesses say the woman didn't realize she needed to stop to cross the highway at the intersection and proceeded to walk into incoming traffic.

Florence County Coroner Bubba Matthews identified the victim as Christiana Magier, 67, of Quebec, Canada.

The driver was not injured in the crash, and troopers don't expect any charges to be filed. However, this accident is still under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
