Darlington Raceway creates new Race for Rates program

Posted: Updated:

DARLINGTON, SC (WMBF) – Darlington Raceway has partnered with several local hotels to form a new program called Race Rates for Race Fans.

Hotels on the new program have agreed to reduce minimum stay requirements and offer rooms at a reasonable rate for the 2010 Southern 500 on Mother's Day weekend.

"One of the things we heard from our fans following the 2009 Southern 500 was that the travel costs to get to the event really added up," said Browning. "After hearing that, we reached out to our local hotel vendors and had a great response from them about our Race Rates for Race Fans program. We are extremely pleased that these hotels see the value of Darlington Raceway fans to the local community and appreciate their business as much as we do."

Fans that are traveling to the Southern 500 can access the Race Rates for Race Fans hotel list by visiting on-line or calling the Darlington Raceway ticket office at 866-459-RACE.

Leading the charge for local hotels with the Race Rates for Race Fans program was Raldex Hospitality Group. Based in Florence, Raldex has five hotels within minutes of Darlington Raceway.

"We are very excited about the opportunity to help race fans attend the 2010 Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway, said Mike Alexander, General Manager of the Raldex owned Hilton Garden Inn in Florence. "Darlington Raceway is one of the top tourist destinations in our area, and generates a tremendous economic impact.  We look forward to making the Southern 500 one of the most economical races for fans to attend."

In addition to the five Raldex owned properties, other hotels in Florence include the Days Inn and Ramada Inn at Young's Plantation. For fans looking to combine the Southern 500 with relaxation in Myrtle Beach, the Hampton Inn & Suites Oceanfront is a perfect getaway.

For a complete list of hotels call 866-459-RACE or visit DarlingtonRaceway.com. Fans are encouraged to check back often as new hotels will be added to the site as they become available.
