HCFR: Cigarette to blame for mobile home fire

Posted: Updated:

LORIS, SC (WMBF) - A mid-morning mobile home fire in Loris has sent one person to the hospital, a spokeswoman with Horry County Fire Rescue reports.

Leslie Yancey with Horry County Fire Rescue says firefighters were dispatched to 982 South Branch Road just after 9:30 a.m. When responders arrived on scene, the single-wide mobile home was destroyed.

One person who was inside the home at the time of the fire was taken to the Loris Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries

Following an investigation by Horry County Fire Rescue, it was determined the fire started by a cigarette on a bed sheet.
