CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - The Coastal Chapter of the American Red Cross is offering a CPR and First Aid Instructor training course beginning in January.

Classes will be held for five days from 6-9:30 p.m. starting Jan. 25. Prior to attending the course, participants must be certified in Adult/Child/Infant CPR and First Aid. To meet these requirements, monthly classes are held at the Red Cross and a schedule is posted at www.coastalscarc.org.

The instructor course covers lay responder Adult/Child/Infant CPR, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens. The instructor manual and participant material are included at a total enrollment fee of $140. Register by calling Rocco Salinari at 477-0020 no later than Jan. 14.

The first night of class is the required "Skills Check," which includes retaking CPR and First Aid exams and successfully demonstrating skills. The class will be held at the chapter office at 2789 Pampas Dr. in Myrtle Beach. Attendance to all five sessions is mandatory. The schedule is as follows: Jan. 25-27 and Feb. 1-2.
