Effingham man sentenced for 2008 store robbery

Posted: Updated:

EFFINGHAM, SC (WMBF) - An Effingham man has been sentenced to 86 months behind bars after investigators say he robbed a business in Pamplico.

U.S. Attorney W. Walter Wilkins alleges on July 24, 2008, Darrin Marcus Davis, 23, stole gas from the Raider Station on North Pamplico Highway. Following the gas theft, Davis drove further down Pamplico Highway to the Midway Grill, where he robbed a clerk at gunpoint.

In midst of robbing the Midway Grill, an investigator with the Florence County Sheriff's Office spotted Davis' car in the parking lot and identified it with the suspect vehicle description from the gas larceny.

Davis was approached by officers as he was leaving, attempted to flee the scene, but instead was taken into custody.

The case was investigated by the Florence County Sheriff's Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.
