FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A rainy two-car accident in Florence County early Saturday morning claimed one life.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, two SUVs collided around 12:45 a.m. when one vehicle ran a stop sign.

A 2000 Cadillac Escalade driven by 23-year old David Lee Rogers from Timmonsville was traveling northbound on Union School Road when it went through the intersection of Anderson Bridge Road without stopping.  A 1998 GMC Yukon driven by 24-year old Mathew Smith from Pamilco was heading westbound when it struck the Escalade on its side.

Florence County Coroner Bubba Matthews said the passenger of the Escalade was Roger's 15-year old sister, Kelsey Nicole Rogers.  She was seriously injured in the collision and transported to a nearby hospital where she died shortly before 2:00 a.m.

No charges have been filed at this time.  The accident is still under investigation by the SCHP.  WMBF News will provide details as they become available.
