MARLBORO COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A 12-year-old and 14-year-old were killed in an early evening accident Thursday in Marlboro County, officials with the South Carolina Highway Patrol report.
Lance Cpl. Paul Brouthers says the single-vehicle accident occurred at 4:55 p.m. on Hebron Dunbar Road, five miles south of Clio. The 2000 Toyota van, traveling southbound on Hebron Dunbar Road, lost control at a left-hand curve, veered off the right side of the roadway and then overturned.
Marlboro County Coroner Tim Brown said Nifasha Estella, 14, and Fitina Adeline, 12, both of Bennettsville, were killed when they were ejected from the van. Brouthers said neither was wearing a seatbelt.
The driver of the car, identified as Ntiranyibagira Auguste, 21, of Dillon, was uninjured in the accident and was wearing a seatbelt.
No charges are pending at this time, as the South Carolina Highway Patrol continues its investigation into the accident.
