COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - More than 150 military veterans at a South Carolina VA Medical Center are being treated to a special Thanksgiving meal.
VA officials say the veterans at the Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia are getting turkey with cornbread dressing, green beans, sweet potatoes, cranberry salad and dinner rolls. The midday meal is topped off with pumpkin pie.
Therapists at the medical center say they have organized a number of holiday visits with volunteers from local clubs and organizations to offer entertainment, music and social opportunities for the veterans.
The volunteers include members of the Dixie Thunder Motorcycle Club, the Marine Corps League, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Salvation Army.
