FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A high speed chase has resulted in the arrest of a 39-year-old man who deputies in Florence County believe is connected to an armed robbery.
Florence County sheriff's deputies responded to a call of an armed robbery on Stokes Road in Florence at approximately 4:07 p.m. when a high speed chase pursued between responding officers and the suspect. The pursuit led deputies into Darlington County, resulting in a short foot chase.
Investigators allege the suspect robbed a female victim on Stokes Road at knifepoint, and following a brief struggle, stole her pocketbook.
Bertis Lue Allen Isgett, of Timmonsville, was arrested and charged Tuesday with armed robbery while armed with a deadly weapon, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and failure to stop for a blue light.
Isgett remains in custody at the Florence County Detention Center where he awaits a bond hearing.
