
MARION COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - According the South Carolina Highway Patrol's website, an accident on Highway 76 resulted in one fatality.
The collision happened at 6:45 p.m. when a 2002 Chevrolet pickup truck turned onto Highway 76 from Shepherd Road in front of a tractor trailer heading westbound.
The tractor trailer, driven by 53-year-old William Coleman from Latta, struck the pickup, killing the driver, Eric Murphy, 50, of Marion. Coleman was transported by EMS to McLeod Hospital. His condition is unknown.
Murphy was killed on impact according to the Marion County Coroner's Office. The pickup was struck broadside. Murphy's passenger, an unknown female, was transported by air to New Hanover Medical Center. Her condition is also unknown at this time.
The SCHP is still investigating the accident.
