Police: Chanticleer arrested on DUI charge

CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - A Coastal Carolina University football player is in trouble with the law after police in Conway arrested him with driving under the influence.

According to J. Reuben Long Detention Center, Austin Jace Shirley, 22, of Myrtle Beach, was booked into the jail at 3:16 a.m. Friday.

Shirley, a red-shirt senior for the Chanticleers, serves as one of the team's inside linebackers and has previously served in the South Carolina National Guard.

No bail has been set for Shirley as of Friday afternoon.
