Deputies investigate shooting at Blue Moon in Dillon

Posted: Updated:

DILLON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A 44-year-old man is recovering after a group of people opened fire in the parking lot of a Dillon business on Tuesday night.

Deputies with the Dillon County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to McLeod Health after it was reported doctors were tending to a gunshot patient in the Emergency Room.

The victim told deputies he was on his way to Rockingham to race a motorcycle when he made a pit stop for a drink at Blue Moon on Harlees Bridge Road in Little Rock. He says he noticed a gold-colored Buick sitting in the parking lot with four to five people inside, and that's when he was shot.

An incident report indicates the victim was shot in the left chest and upper arm area and sustained scratches on his face after falling into a ditch.

Officials say the shot came from the passenger side of the vehicle involved, but could not get a complete description of the suspects from the victim. Investigators were able to find a bullet hole in the trunk of the car the victim was driving.

Two 25-caliber hulls and packing for a shot gun were found for the shotgun shells in the Blue Moon parking lot.

Anyone with information on the shooting or the identity of the suspects involved are asked to call the Dillon County Sheriff's Office immediately.
