SOUTH CAROLINA (WMBF) - Law enforcement agencies in North and South Carolina are on the hunt for a man they say is responsible for a series of robberies in the two states.
Officials with CrimeStoppers say the rash of bank robberies began on Sept. 23 at a BB&T branch in Wilmington, NC. Just days later, a second BB&T office was robbed in Spartanburg.
The bank robberies continued in Greenville and Spartanburg, before returning to Wilmington. The most recent of the robberies occurred at a Wachovia branch in Florence on Nov. 13.
Police describe the suspect as a middle-aged white male with an average height and stocky build. During the robberies, the suspect was wearing glasses and dark goatee, in addition to a variety of hats.
An Oct. 19 robbery in Spartanburg was caught on surveillance, and police say the suspect fled the scene in a white 2007-2008 Ford F-150 type of truck. Witnesses at an Oct. 9 robbery described the getaway vehicle as a burgundy SUV.
Anyone with information on the bank robberies or the suspect at hand is asked to contact CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
All tipsters will remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward.
