MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Voters will have the chance to head back to the polls on Tuesday for a run-off election in Myrtle Beach.
Voters will have the choice between two mayoral candidates and two seats for the Myrtle Beach City Council race.
“Typically run-off turnout is not as high. You don't have as many voters come out to the polls and so the actual tenor of the election can be a little bit different," said Holley Tankersley, a political analyst for WMBF News.
The polls will open at 7 a.m. and will remain in service until 7 p.m. All eligible voters who are registered will be able to cast their ballot during that time. The Myrtle Beach Election Commision says the run-off will operate the same as a general election.
With a run-off, results can be skewed towards certain candidates over others from the general election.
"Typically, run-offs favor those who performed well in the first election and also tend to favor incumbents candidates as well," said Tankersley.
Results should begin arriving at the Myrtle Beach Law Enforcement Center shortly after the polls close Tuesday evening.
