Company to bring 120 jobs to Lake City

Posted: Updated:

FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A new research development company that specializes in carbon fiber reclamation and molding process is expected to bring approximately 120 new jobs to Florence County, the South Carolina Department of Commerce announced Monday.

Materials Innovation Technologies has announced it will locate its new facility in Lake City, resulting in a $5 million investment in the immediate economy.

"We are excited about the expansion into Lake City and most appreciative of Florence County and [South Carolina] for their interest and support of this project," said Jim Stike, president of Materials Innovation Technologies.

The North Carolina-based company says its Lake City plant will allow the company to recycle carbon fibers from different components, allowing for the creation of parts for automobiles and aircrafts.

Materials Innovation Technologies expects to do the bulk of its hiring in February and will work through readySC to screen applicants. Those interested in job opportunities can visit emergingmit.com.
