NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - The Lions Club of North Myrtle Beach will be sponsoring a "Strides" Lions Walk for Diabetes Awareness Saturday to help in the fight against diabetes.
The Strides Walk will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at McLean Park in North Myrtle Beach.
Officials with the Lions Club says diabetes awareness and the need for information in the immediate community is greater than ever.
“Only when people are informed about diabetes can they take the proper steps to prevent and/or control the disease,” stated Ken Shimwell, president of the NMB Lions Club.
Onsite registration is required to enter the walk. Contributions will be accepted. Health care professionals from the Loris Healthcare System will also be on site to provide free diabetes blood tests.
