CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer will join representatives of the Samaritan's Feet program on Saturday to distribute 250 pairs of shoes to underprivileged children in Conway.
Officials with the lieutenant governor's office say the partnership's goal is to provide up to 46,000 children in South Carolina with a pair of shoes. The shoe recipients are students who are on free and reduced lunches.
The shoes will be distributed to area children at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Main St. in Conway at 9:30 a.m.
Samaritan's Feet is a relief organization based out of Charlotte that provides children around the world with shoes. Organization officials say the goal of the cause is to provide 10 million pairs of shoes to impoverished people in 10 years.
To date, nearly 1 million pairs of shoes have been collected.
