COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier says the Gamecocks will be without defensive end Devin Taylor for Saturday's game with No. 1 Florida.
Spurrier says Taylor suffered a bruised sternum in last weekend's loss at Arkansas. Taylor, a 6-foot-7, 232-pound freshman, had started South Carolina's first five games, but then went to a reserve role. He figured to see additional playing time with starter Cliff Matthews still recovering from a separated shoulder.
Taylor has 25 tackles this season, including 4 1/2 for loss. He's also forced two fumbles and blocked a kick.
Spurrier said defensive tackle Melvin Ingram will move out to defensive end. The coach also has said there's a chance Matthews could see some action against the Gators.
