
NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Fire investigators have determined that a malfunctioning light in a store display was the cause of a fire that damaged a North Myrtle Beach beachwear store Wednesday.
According to NMB Fire Chief Tom Barstow, the light i nthe front window display at the Pacific store located on the corner of 27th Avenue South and US-17 sparked the blaze, which was reported around 1:30 p.m. after a police officer spotted flames inside of the store.
A section of US-17 between 26th and 27th Avenue South was blocked to traffic as firefighters from North Myrtle Beach Fire Rescue tended to the blaze.
