MARION, SC (WMBF) - The American Board for Certification of Teacher Excellence hopes a new program across the Pee Dee will help bring more educators into South Carolina classrooms.
Information sessions will be held Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the Technical Education Center on East Highway 76 in Marion for locals who wish to learn more about a scholarship possibility for becoming a South Carolina teacher.
ABCTE offers funding for people who wish to return to the classroom, but as a teacher. A scholarship is available for the ABCTE training program, making the process of going back to school for official certification easier.
Tuesday's information sessions will address how to get involved in the program and how to begin the scholarship process.
Those who can't make the information sessions in Marion will have two session opportunities in Lake City at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday and in Florence on Saturday at 10 a.m.
