SC man's body discovered by utility workers

Associated Press - November 2, 2009 4:15 AM ET

WALHALLA, S.C. (AP) - An autopsy is scheduled for a 34-year-old South Carolina man who apparently died from electric related injuries.

Multiple media outlets reported that Oconee County Coroner Karl E. Addis said the body of 34-year-old Frankie Sheriff of Seneca was found late Saturday night behind an old textile building near Westminster.

Addis said the autopsy will be performed Monday morning at the AnMed Medical Center to help determine the cause of death, which is being treated as an accident.

Authorities say two utility workers from Blue Ridge Electric checking on a power outage found Sheriff's body. Addis said a flashlight and a crowbar were lying near the body, and it appears electrical wires were being cut from the poles.

The Oconee County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident.
