FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - Redevelopment and the urbanization of Florence is expected to be a hot topic during a community workshop Tuesday, hosted by the City of Florence Urban Planning and Development Department.
The second session of the two-part public series will begin at 6 p.m. at the First Baptist Church on 300 S. Irby Street. Event organizers expect it to last approximately two hours.
Up for discussion are ideas on the future development and redevelopment of Florence within city limits. Concerns also expected to be addressed include existing opportunities to develop vacant lots and redeveloping vacant buildings for optimal uses.
The purpose of the City of Florence's comprehensive redevelopment plan is to establish a future for both the community and leaders for the next 10 to 20 years. Officials say it is an essential document for any municipality seeking the best quality of life for its residents.
