Patriot golfers 15th at Chattanooga Tournament

CHATTANOOGA, TN - The 18th-ranked Chattanooga Mocs and Wichita State University are tied for the 36-hole lead of the Aldila Scenic City Invitational Golf Tournament at Council Fire Golf Club, while Francis Marion University stands 15th after the first day.

The host Mocs and Shockers shot 564to hold a two-shot lead over the University of Southern Mississippi.  Charlotte and Middle Tennessee State University round out the top five.

Francis Marion rebounded from a 309 score during the morning round to shoot a 293 on Monday afternoon. 

Ciaran McKenna leads the Patriot golfers.  He carded rounds of 73 and 73 to tie for 30th position at 142.  Christopher Couch is tied for 66th place, while Kenneth Svanum is tied for 71st, Sebastian Backlund is tied for 75th and Matt Jackson is tied for 81st place.

Charlotte’s Olafur Loftsson carded a 68 in the first round followed by a 67 to shoot 135 (-9).  Southern Miss’ Wes Carter and Wichita State’s Dustin Garza are tied for second just two shots off the pace at 137.

The tournament tees off at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday with a shotgun start.
