Nicholas J. Williams (Source: Marlboro County Sheriff's Office)MARLBORO COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Authorities in Marlboro County arrested three people and seized nearly 10 pounds of marijuana Thursday.
According to Marlboro County Lt. Jamie Seales, two groups of officers from the Marlboro County Sheriff's Office were involved in the arrests of Larry Wayne Douglas and Nicholas J. Williams, both of Bennettsvile, during a traffic stop and the arrest of Dominique Moore, a North Carolina correctional officer, a home in Bennettsville.
Officers seized more than five pounds of marijuana during the traffic stop and more than four pounds at the residence. According to Seales, the marijuana appeared to be from the same group of distributors.
"This investigation has been ongoing for several weeks and will now continue after the arrest," said Marlboro County Sheriff Fred Knight. "It has been one of my goals as Sheriff to intercept large quantities of illegal narcotics coming into Marlboro County before they are able to be distributed, we were successful this time."
Douglas has been charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of crack cocaine, assault with intent to kill, assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, and possession of a firearm by persons unlawful. The assault and gun charges are the result of prior warrant.
Moore is charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
Williams faces charges of possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of crack cocaine.
